Here it is again...Corona Light

BUT, I stopped at 3 Rite Aids only to find that the one near LACMA was out, the one on La Brea near Santa Monica was out and finally the one at Vineland and Ventura had the 12 packs for $11.99. Note: The 24 packs were not as great deal so I bought 2 twelves. (-;

RIB EYE STEAK on sale at Ralphs

3.97 per lb...usually $12.99 per lb....you have to buy 3, I paid $12.03 and the usual price would have been $39.96 - such a deal.

HAAS AVACADOS

Sometimes the markets have good deals. Haas Avacados at Ralphs, 88 cents apiece. That would be $3.52 if you bought 4, that's how they come packed at Trader Joe's for $4.29 (and they're a little puny) these at Ralphs are nice and big.

Gelson's sale- Peets Coffee and Heirloom Tomatoes

Laurie, one of our followers sent me an email and I quote:
" I noticed on the sign board in front of Gelson's on Franklin @ Canyon Peet's coffee for $7.99. My house coffee is Peet's Decaf French, which is great, and can go up to near $11.00 a pound! "

Heirloom tomatoes, $2.99 a pound, expensive but a good price for them.

Paper Towels at Costco

Is it really a deal? I think so, 12 for $14.99 80 sheets per roll. About $1.25 a roll.

BUT, I don't really think the toilet paper is such a deal. I seem to run out in a couple of days. I know, I can hear the jokes now, but really...I think they're short on paper, lotsa rolls but short on paper. I'll check and compare on this at a later date unless someone out there has answer.

Pistachios!!!

Oh, my latest weakness is pistachio nuts. Google them and see where they call them the "skinny nut", I like the sound of that.

But at Costco you can get 3lbs of these NUTs salt and peppered for $13.39($4.63 per lb) and regular salted 4lbs for $15.99 ($3.99 per lb). Salt and pepper is very nice and unusual.

I know Jons is 1lb for $5.99 and TJ's(Trader Joe's) is around $5.39ish per lb (I'll double check next time I'm there).

$8.00 a lb at Ralphs 0-;

Garlic and Broccoli

99 cent store, Victory and Buena Vista in Burbank. 8 garlic buds for 99 cents and a huge thing of broccoli, that's almost $2 that went a very long way.

Produce at Jon's

On my way home I had to stop at Jon's at La Brea and Fountain because their produce prices are the best:

Broccoli: 59 cents a lb
Tomatoes on the vine: 89 cents a lb
Cherries-Bing: 1.99lb

Total today: $2.90

(And yes, I didn't buy the whole bag of cherries. At Jons the bags are ziplock and easy to open so you don't get stuck with so much fruit half of it's bound to go bad).

Lentils - pre-cooked yum

$2.99 17.6 oz

Trader Joe's Studio City

great in salads, plain, hot or cold. Turn that bag of lettuce into a full meal.

Lettuce in a Bag

Baby Romaine- organic 5oz bag
Butter Lettuce and Radicchio 7oz bag
each $1.99 at Trader Joe's
I stopped at the one in Studio City, Ventura and Laurel, whew it's hot out there.

Better prices might be bulk but when there are only 1 or 2 people bulk produce goes bad.

Celery Hearts

Trader Joe's again...I go to the one at Laurel Cyn and Ventura...2 big hearts of celery for $1.69.

More Beer 6-Pack of Lager

Again, Trader Joe's: a 6 pack of Simpler Times Lager in cans $2.99 (it's a little stronger too)!

EGGS by the Dozens

A dozen large eggs at Trader Joe's today for $1.49. I know Costco has a dozen and a half for about $1.29 but I'm not sure if they're large and not worth the trip for only eggs.

Half and Half

If you're going to be at Smart and Final (mine is in Burbank) nobody beats their price on "half and half" $1.35 a quart, BUT beware, they have the highest price on "Laughing Cow" cheeses. Costco is still the best one on that. But you have to buy 4 at time for $8.35. That's okay, they last forever and compare that price with every other store that carries it.

It's hard to beat the price of produce at...

Jon's markets in LA and SFV!

Best price on a great light brew

Arriba Light Beer from El Salvador...$3.99 a six pack! What a great deal. I got mine at the Trader Joe's at Ventura and Laurel Cyn.
